Paul Smith for Maggie's Centre

Thursday 27 October 2011

Paul Smith has designed the interiors of the newest of the 15 Maggie’s Centre buildings, situated in the grounds of Nottingham City Hospital. The building, which has been designed by architect Piers Gough, will offer support and care for those affected by cancer.

Inside consists of a large kitchen, two sitting rooms, a library, an office, three smaller therapy rooms and a larger room for tai chi, yoga or meetings. The interiors have been designed to create an environment which complements the programme run by Maggie’s, combining a mixture of classic, comfortable furnishings with some more quirky, uplifting pieces.

Paul Smith has said, “I am delighted to be involved in creating this centre for people living with cancer and their family and friends. It will be a great resource for everyone and a fantastic new addition to the city. Piers Gough is an incredible architect and it has been a joy to work together on the design. I wanted the interior to be somewhere calm, warm and restful; a place where visitors could go to have time to think and have a cup of tea.”
