Sustainable Luxury at Alicia Adams Alpaca

Wednesday 26 January 2011

Fusing luxury and sustainability is at the heart of WGSN's Autumn/Winter 2012/13 macro trend Eco Hedonism, and homegrown brands like Alicia Adams Alpaca are the quiet commercial trailblazers in this arena. Alicia Adams Alpaca's story begins at Adams and her family's New York State alpaca farm. The results are unbelievably soft, rare and hypoallergenic home goods and accessories.

Alicia and her family moved to New York in 2006 from Germany where they started raising and breeding Suri alpacas – one of the world’s rarest breeds. While her husband built the breeding business, turning it into one of the leading Suri breeding programs in the United States, Alicia embarked on creating Alicia Adams Alpaca in 2009.

Alicia Adams Alpaca Inc. now raises and manages its own herd of over 200 suri alpacas at the family farm in New York’s Hudson Valley. The farm is comprised of 80 acres of rolling meadows, dense woods and beautiful ponds; a fitting genesis to the ultra luxurious, eco-friendly product.
